Diet Description
Re-leve® is a high-performance mix, specially designed to replace all cereal and hard feed for horses that are prone to tying up. Collaborative research carried out between Dr Stephanie Valberg at the University of Minnesota and Kentucky Equine Research showed that, in a stressful training situation, diets that are composed largely of cereals and molasses can increase the occurrence of tying up. As a result, a high-fat, low-starch formulation was developed for horses to train and run on. It provides the equine athlete with the high levels of energy that it requires for performance using a variety of alternative energy sources. Highly fermentable fibres and high oil levels reduce the reliance on starch in the diet, and allow those horses which are susceptible to this problem to remain in training.
Re-leve® is fortified with Stamm 30® for nutrient continuity and contains high levels of antioxidants, such as vitamin E and selenium, to assist normal muscle function.
It is recommended that 1 - 2 lbs of Equi-Jewel rice bran supplement is fed daily alongside Re-leve® to boost energy levels - this palatable supplement is naturally high in oil and fibre, but low in starch, so it is a compatible product.
Every bag of Saracen feed is manufactured in a UFAS accredited mill, and undergoes strictly documented quality control procedures. A comprehensive system is in place to ensure the consistency and quality of all products manufactured by Saracen Horse Feeds for equine use.
Saracen Horse Feeds joined the new code of practice for feed manufacturers that the British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA) put in place on 1st October 2009. The Universal Feed AssuranceScheme (UFAS), Naturally Occurring Prohibited Substances (NOPS) Code has been developed by BETA in response to the increased incidence of positive dope tests in racehorses. The NOPS scheme, whilst not a guarantee, is a risk-assessment based approach to reducing the chance of feed being contaminated with naturally occurring prohibited substances, such as morphine, for example.
Both the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) and the National Trainers Federation (NTF) have endorsed the BETA NOPS Code, which is now incorporated into our UFAS annual audit. As an approved member of the new code, we use the logo like a kitemark, a sign of reassurance to owners and trainers of the stringent quality management procedures that have been undertaken during every step of the sourcing, storage, transport and manufacturing processes for each product.
Saracen operate a strict bonding policy as part of its manufacturing process for our racing range of products (clearly marked on our packaging with a “bonded” symbol). These products are bonded and kept in isolation in a designated quarantine area at our main site in Aylesford prior to release for sale. To clear our bonding process, aggregate samples from each batch are submitted to the Horse Racing Forensic Laboratory (HFL) in Newmarket.
HFL Sports Science has been testing commercially prepared feed for the horseracing industry for over 20 years. They offer a screening service designed to assist feed manufacturers in their quality control process. Analysis is performed to high international standards (ISO 17025) using state of the art mass spectrometric detection systems, capable of detecting contaminants at very low levels (ng/g). The product is only released for sale on receipt of a certificate from the HFL stating that with regards to caffeine & theobromine “None were found”.

I have used Re-Leve for about 5 years on my Hann X Dressage Mare.
She shows a lot of tension in her work and Re-Leve has helped her over-come this together with giving her the condition she needs.
Everyone in the yard always comments on her shine and condition and that is all year round! Thank You Saracen.

I have had my rather neurotic TB mare on this for three years, and it has done wonders - she is more manageable, keeps condition on well, carries a good level of muscle and has not had a tying up episode for over two years. I would recommend it to anyone with a hot-headed horse!

On your advice we put our "stressy and spooky" mare onto Re-leve a couple of years ago and we cannot recommend it highly enough. Whilst we also feed a herbal calmer as well, she is now much more laid back on a day to day basis. She looks good on it and stays that way. Thank you.

Just a quick note to say how good we have found this feed with our ex racehorses, they are happily competeing to BE100 on just Releve and Hifi before we have felt the need to add anything extra. They remain calm and level headed, with great coat and foot quality. Thank you very much to the Saracen nutritionist for advising we use it 4 years ago.

My horse was on Re Leve for six years because he seemed adversely effected by cereals and sugar. He was very underwieght and very hyper. On this miracle feed he became much quiter so I was able to overcome his emotional issues, and he muscled up beautifully never fully losing his muscle again no matter how little exercise he was doing, he muscled up like he was a stallion! Sadly this summer he started refusing to eat it and I had to reduce his feed to just a chaff, but I think that was just being fussy after so long on the same food. I hope to try him on one of your other leisure diets or small amounts of equi jewell when the weather gets colder, but if I'm lucky, he'll decide he likes his Re Leve again, as there's nothing else out there quite like it! Thanks a million saracen!

I have been using this for a couple of years now on an 'enthusiastic' hunter who is hard to keep condition on. This keeps him level headed, able to last long hard hunting days and keep him looking well. A great product.

My daughters 7yr old T/B mare can be stressy and tense, she was scanned and signs of scarring from stomach ulcers were found. Her food was changed to Re-Leve due to low starch and sugar contents. It has made a tremendous differance and given us peace of mind, knowing we have reduced the risk of further ulcers due to feeding too much sugar based feed.

I have had my thoroughbred for just over 3 years. He was a steeple chaser, point to point, flat racer ....you name it, he had done it. When I got him, he was recovering from a fractured pelvis and it took 6 months for him to recover. We were told he would only be a horse just for light work and light hacking. Just what I needed. He was very, very underweight when I got him, but little did I know how hard it has/was going to be to get his weight back on. I have tried all the foods, all the supplements, listen to all the advice......and spent so much money. 3 years down the road, I was still fighting with his weight and his scatty behaviour. Dont get me wrong, I had got some weight on, but it wasnt enough!. I was at the end of my tether, and I searched the internet again....and found Saracen website and I sent a email to them....I spoke to Nicola who advised me on a feed programme. We are still early days into this programme, but he is looking so, so much better. Nicola was so helpful and very understanding and certainly knew the best advice. I am still working on his excitetability, but hopefully in time, we will get there. I am so pleased with Saracen products, thank you from me and Satco! :-)
