Convincing Win For Nickie & Alfie At The British Dressage Area Festival
22 October 2011
Saracen Horse Feeds are delighted to announce this latest achievement of Nickie Maddaford and her horse, Alfie.
Nickie and Alfie participated in the British Dressage Area Festival Final at Kingswood Equestrian in Staffordshire on 3rd September and came away with a great win of 71.96%, which was an amazing 5% clear of the other 23 competitors. This result has now secured them qualification for the Winter Championships at Hartpury in April. Nickie said of Alfie, “He took the atmosphere and prize-giving in his stride, I am very proud of him. He has a super character and is amazingly trainable, he’s my best friend”.
Nickie, a freelance trainer in her own right, has her own yard near Broadway and currently trains with Carl Hester and Rhett Bird. Alfie is a 5 year old 16.2hh Holstein Gelding and has been with Nickie for nearly two years now. They have done well at Young Horse Classes and came 11th at this year’s Badminton Potential International Dressage Horse Championships. They have also qualified for the British Dressage Winter Regionals at Novice Freestyle to Music, which take place early next year.
Saracen first became involved with Nickie two years ago when one of her horses had gastric problems but, together with help and advice from Saracen’s Nikki McGee and Lizzie Drury, they set about resolving these problems nutritionally.
Nickie says of Saracen, “I have fed him (Alfie) on Saracen from the beginning and can only applaud everything about it. It’s great to have people on the end of a phone who really understand what you are trying to achieve. My other 2 horses are also fed on Saracen and perform well”.
Congratulations to Nickie and Alfie and, here at Saracen, we look forward to following your future successes.
