Geordieland puts his best foot forward in Group 2 at Sandown
Geordieland battled bravely to take the Blue Square Henry II Stakes (Group 2) under Shane Kelly, beating Patkai by 5 lengths. The Jamie Osborne-trained stayer dug deep to take the race, and as Jamie said, “We have displayed qualities people doubted we had. We looked beat and had to battle to beat Patkai, and hopefully nobody can say that we didn’t.”
Paktai’s trainer, Sir Micheal Stoute, said, “We were beaten by a better horse, but if Geordieland hadn’t been there, we would have looked good.”
This is the eight year old’s seventh win and takes his earnings to £530,831; he now heads to Royal Ascot for the Gold Cup. Good luck, Jamie.
