First-season trainer, Warren Greatrex, landed his first winner, Quartano, at Plumpton on Monday, then quickly followed that up on Tuesday when You’re So Vain won the bumper at Folkestone; both horses ran in Malcolm Denmark’s colours. Warren has had several horses run into a place since saddling his first runner just over a month ago, but he was relieved when Quartano took the 2m5f novice hurdle by two and three quarter lengths under Paddy Brennan.

Warren said, “ Quartano has a lot of ability, and we thought he’d get further now. He’s got a lot of class and getting his head in front will do him a world of good. He’ll go on to better things.”
