Carl Hester cleans up at the Sunshine Tour 2007.
Carl Hester won 10 classes out of 10 entered in weeks one and two of the Spanish Sunshine Tour in Vejer de la Frontera. Five of these were with his potential British team ride Lecantos, who took both Grands Prix and GP Specials. 'When I saw Lecantos with his former rider last year, I could see his potential, but his marks were around 64%,' said Carl. 11-year old Lecantos is owned by Sasha Stewart and Carl has secured the ride for the rest of 2007. 'I thought he was spooky, but he's coped fine, it's just a question of trust.'
The judges loved 16hh Lecantos's elasticity expression and lightness.
'This show has five O (Olympic level) judges, so you can't say I'll go to Spain because it's easy anymore,' said Carl. 'It's exciting to add a 70% plus Grand Prix horse to the team pot.'
