For Those Who... Are A Driving Force To Be Reckoned With!
Sara Howe is one of the leading names in international carriage driving and a familiar face on the show circuit. Based at the successful Bradbourne Carriage Driving Centre in Kent, she teaches all standards from beginners to professional, as well as using it as a platform for her busy competitive career.
Born into a very successful horsy family, Sara's mother was an international dressage competitor before she caught the driving bug and twice competed in the Indoor Driving Champs (a feat in itself). Her father evented previously and now runs a very well established carriage driving centre for the disabled. Sarah has always been around horses and took the Pony Club route as a child and evented, before she started driving at the age of 18 years.
Sara trained with top name Peter Munt, whom she met on the circuit. She worked for him for 8 years, learning the art of driving and competition skills, travelling abroad, coaching and even filming, something she continues to enjoy to this day.
Her daughter Phillipa (aged 16) now competes as well so Sara is enjoying watching her take on the professionals in the competition arena and win! Amongst Phillipa's many wins is the coveted title of Supreme Champion 2004 at the Indoor Finals, where she competed against some of the UK's biggest and most established names in the world of driving.
On feeding, Sara says:
'Our ponies have a lot of natural energy and oomph, so feeding them to produce the results without them overheating can be tricky. Saracen Horse & Pony Cooling Pencils do the job perfectly, the ponies have sparkle and energy but without the fizz'
